iPad and Surface Pro Sleeves

Last week, my sewing machine came back out!  It was so nice to have it back out, like greeting an old friend.  I spent the first weekend sewing an iPad sleeve and a Surface Pro sleeve.

The first project on my list was to make a (belated) Christmas present- an iPad sleeve.  I found a great tutorial at Crazy Little Projects.  I found some cute green and blue fabric at JoAnns and got to work.  It came together pretty easily.  I did make one change, putting a button hole and and button instead of a velcro closure.  I was pretty happy with how it came out!  I tried out Daddy's iPad in it, and it fit!  Quite nicely, too!

The next project was to sew a sleeve for my (new) Surface Pro that Daddy gave me for Christmas!  It is a little bigger than an iPad, so I used the same tutorial and made it a little bigger.  Unfortunately, I did not make it as wide as I should have.  While my Surface Pro fits, it is a tight fit.  Oh well!

I used this cute purple chevron print that I also found at JoAnns, and lined it with the cute floral print.  Even though it is not the best fit, it still makes me happy!

What have you made lately?

Thank you gifts

At the end of the school year, the are always thank you gifts to be handed out. This year I need gifts for my wonderful classroom volunteers and for Little Guy's teachers at his school. 

For my classroom volunteers, I put together these water bottles.  In each bottle is a few Crystal Light iced tea packets and a few Snickers bars.   The tag reads "Thank you for helping in our classroom this year.  Your hard work is nothing to 'Snicker' at.  I hope you have a 'tea'-rrific summer!"  I know, a little cheesy, but it has the right sentiment.  I also gave them a framed picture of their child in a graduation cap and gown (finishing kindergarten IS a big deal!).

For Little Guy's teachers, I put together a little gardening basket. Each basket included a pair of gloves, a transplanting shovel, a seed packet, a small pot, and a small sunflower plant (one of the ones that Little Guy and I started). We also made cards for them with Little Guy's hand prints.

Happy Valentine's Day!

This year, Little Guy is celebrating Valentine's Day at school.  So we needed to make Valentines for him to give out!  We started with him stamping hearts onto white paper.  We used toilet paper rolls shaped into hearts and dipped into red paint.  (I got the idea from this website, Rust and Sunshine, from a pin on Pinterest.)

Then I cut the papers up into smaller squares, displaying some cute hearts, wrote  "Valentine, you make me loopy" on them, and added the loopy straw.  Cute, right!

I also had to make Valentines for my students at school.  I don't like to give them candy, so I usually do a writing theme.  This year I got each student two little notepads, a pencil, eraser, and pencil sharpener.

While we were painting, I also painted the bottoms of Little Guy's feet.  I stamped them to make a "V."  I then cut out the footprints to make cards for Little Guy's grandparents.

Happy "Love" Day!

Last night we did a theme bath.  We had a red bath!  I had only red toys and I put red food coloring into the water.  (I had to leave the blue mat in so Little Guy didn't slide around.)

I'm not sure how much Little Guy gets into the themed baths yet, but we will continue them!

This morning I got up and made Valentine's Day pancakes!  Yup, they're pink and heart shaped!
